I would read it- I have a family member in the business and it'd give me something to talk to him about over the holidays.
have him give me a call, i can hook up all the gear he'll ever need

has China always been the main supplier in these items? If not, who was and why/when did it change?
it varies. most of the antennas and radios, yes, china or similar. andrews and commscope build most of the cables. they claim it's built domestically but i doubt it
quote:
I understand in your work that you need what you need and you need it now- but in the long term would you like to see either some serious diversification in supply countries or an increase in onshoringy American capabilities to meet these demands?
will never happen, at least in terms of new towers. chinese steel is fine and a fraction of the price of us steel for something that's just going to sit in a field for a couple decades. that said, the need of an actual tower is shrinking as microwave antennas become more prevalent. in any decent sized city, probably one in 10 streetlights you see have an cell antenna shrouded inside

How lagging is 5g and how important is it that it get caught up? I know there are those out there not in favor of 5g everywhere but I'm not read up on their concerns.
not bad. your phone works most everywhere right? but if steel prices and interest rates were better, and these tariffs were gone, we could be rolling out 6g right now

Is this also highly dependent on China? Does it have to be?

Not really,
Kids today shouldn't have a smartphone imo.
My parents are 91 and they both use tablets, laptops, and smartphones. Gotta have them.
Oh, and Comcast home internet, cable, & phone.
Show me a 10 year old and up today that doesn't have one.

It's almost a necessity to get things done and communicate with people BUT you could take them away from everybody and us old folks are the only ones that remember how to live. THE ONLY ONES. Because we did. I didn't have a smart phone until Katrina. It was a really good tool when going down there. I had a flip phone until about a year ago. I was using computers in '77 so learning new technology is pretty easy. All my friends and old family members do just fine BUT take them away and we may be the ONLY ones to survive.

I will agree with that.
Truth be told, todays society may be better again like previous times when phones were just a form of communication and not used for everything thay are used now.
People have become very selfish along the way I feel today and devisive bc of the lack of emotions that texting, internet, etc bring on with smartphones.
Glad you survived Katrina, my parents left 2 years prior luckily and may not have survived that.
Happy Thanksgiving

You're an idiot. President Trump has had women in prominent positions in both business and his administrations.
And real women at that. Not just a man who stole some luggage at the airport

No shite... couldn't run the surveys during the shutdown and the numbers wouldn't be accurate with a retroactive survey.
