Your graph is "all grades". 89 in Alabama absolutely was closer to $1 than $2 before 2020

National average dude

ETA and still a doubtful claim

This is from an article in September of 2019
quote:

The Yellowhammer state has seen gas prices rise 0.4 cents per gallon over the last week, bringing the state average to $2.20 per gallon. Prices are 11.5 cents cheaper than last month and 32.2 cents lower than a year ago.

Amazing how easy it is to just look things up instead of making them up

furnace creek is like middle of nowhere in death valley. they could charge $20 a gallon and you'd pay it if you need it. this example is ridiculous

Point out where Trump lied. Be specific. Make sure not to assume his meaning and just use his words. I look forward to your response.

Also….what are your thoughts on Biden lying in his campaign about his plans for the oil and gas industry?

Trump said that prices were 5,6,7, or even 8 dollars a gallon. Do you deny that is a fact?

Per AAA as of, you know, today, only CA and HI go above $5 a gallon on average and that's for premium so yeah

If you want to point to random outliers in expensive or remote places why not include gassing up your boat at the dock prices? No kidding - gas is expensive in Death Valley with the next station 40 miles away? Or in Honalulu? It's a stupid talking point

If the national average is $3.10 you have near half the states that’s average is higher than that. Meaning there are a lot of places paying more than you are.

Exactly. Trump is just throwing out numbers instead of saying, In ______, they’re paying $5.34 a gallon right now.” It’s why everything he says is so hard to trust. He’s either making an uninformed blanket statement or outright making things up. He’s been doing it for years, but the conservative sheeple who don’t have an original thought in their head want him to come back and frick over this country some more. But I’ve kind of moved on to watching the world burn so I’m not even necessarily against that anyway.

Tell me. Did trump say anything about averages in his speech or did he say that 5,6,7, and even 8 dollars a gallon for gas existed?

Honestly BBonds. You're smarter than this. I respect your opinions. Sure, 5,6,7 8 dollar gas exists. Sub $3 gas exists in the majority of states. That's a good thing. Trump is just fearmongering as usual. We can disagree on that if you like

I don’t disagree with you. My point is trump made a factually correct statement. If you want to argue whether gas is less under Trump vs Biden we can discuss that. But this thread is about whether Trump made a factually incorrect statement. And he did not.

Yes. Gas is not $8 a gallon. It's fear mongering and bullshite.

But the Cult knights for him regardless.

He juxtaposed it with the 1.87 price which was based on a national average when the economy was in the complete shitter because of COVID

Had he not done that you might have a point. It would be a stupid point either way but at least you'd have some technicality that you could justify. All bets are off when he cites the 1.87 price. It certainly wasn't 1.87 in some random outlier place.

Which makes everything you've been trying to justify completely worthless.

What do you think Trump did to get gas prices lower?

The more pertinent question is why didn’t they stay that way?

Again I’d love for someone to explain one policy (domestic or foreign) or action thats happened under Biden that would favor lower gas prices.
