If they were sanctioned why are they just now being blockaded?

Are sanctioned oil tankers a big factor in VZ’s energy supply chain?

Seeing that you don’t understand the situation.
They “used and abused” Oil Majors and companies for decades to develop, “R&D”, explore etc… and fund/front the major money maker for Venezuala.
And the long term investment cannot just be circumvented, pushed over and say, “yeah, we will just take it from here without paying you for the risk, investment and time” etc…. That’s what they have done & nobody in the USA has the balls or rather they are so “compromised with blackmail” that they don’t stand up for us down in Venezuala in the past, until now.
VEN cannot just say:
“We got it from here” and break it off in our asses and then allow Chyna & Iran to reap benefits off of USA’s progress over the years.
And while doing so, Venezuala has become the biggest accomplice to the Global Attack to the USA, mainly and primarily due to us sharing the same landmass & the fact that they have wealth and capabilities, and I’ll leave it at that for now.

I believe that he is referring to US companies, operating in Venezuela at the time Maduro came to power, had all of their assets and equipment seized for use by the incoming regime.
Correct. Although I'd add that the incoming regime had no fricking clue what they were doing with those assets. American companies took the risks and developed the tech to handle the unique crude supplies, then all got kicked out as their assets were nationalized and stolen by Venezuela. This triggered sanctions and isolation. And since then that cash cow has been completely mismanaged by Venezuela.
Weird memory triggered with that post: In Ayn Rand's fictional epic "Atlas Shrugged", it was Mexico that nationalized the San Sebastian rail lines and all of the mines serviced by Francisco d'Anconia's company. Except in that book, America was already too far gone to do anything about it.

Yeah, it's hard for people to imagine that US corporations can invest millions and maybe billions of dollars in a country having signed all legal documents that set forth the terms. And then a dictator takes over the country and kicks these companies out with no compensation.
Are you ok with China buying up tons of residential real estate in the US?
Would you be ok with the US forcing China to give up those assets?
