Trump can't target 1 automaker or he'd likely lose in court. If he pulls some kind of tax he's likely got to do it to all of the US automakers.

Protectionism is a long term drain, but I'm in favor of using it if other countries are going to as well. If you don't match their measures, you lose. You just end up with marginally cheaper junk and no jobs.

The point GEOTUS is making about trucks and the chicken tax, which is the same point he's made about tariffs from the beginning, is that they aren't the end of the world.

Are you for/against ending the auto subsidies? For/against expanding the chicken tax? And what is your rationale behind each view?

A whole 600 hundred jobs, yippee.

There were about that many gained and lost in the U.S. economy in the time it took me to write this post.

Are you Bernie Sanders? No joke, that's exactly what he'd say.

That only exists in your mind.

Can you link where he said these words:
"Hey Congress, end the subsidies! GM is ungrateful.

His economic advisors are exploring an import tax, like the ones other countries hammer us with. How is that a contradiction to favoring a roll back in federal subsidies for electrics?

what you mean to say is that trump is arguing explicitly for a 25% tax on imported trucks, which we hammer ourselves with already, to apply to other goods too

Arguing for a tax on items that compete with something you want to protect works very much like a subsidy

Each manufacturer has to many options. Eliminating different types cars should help the company and in the long run help the consumer.

Why produce the Yukon, Tahoe, and Escalade? Yukon or Tahoe needs to be eliminated.

GM is competing against itself. It is hurting their profit and the price a customer pays for a new vehicle

Middle Class Conservatives have always been accused of voting against their own economic interest.

Trump stole Pat Buchanans old platform and now they are foresaking the free trade principles of their hero Reagan( Mr Globalization).

A 25% chicken tax that killed the US small pick up market.

Small pickups are still sold worldwide, but good luck buying one here because of this tax.

So tariffs have been used for centuries by tons of countries, but they're bad for us to use because free trade has worked so well?
