I thought we were using tariffs for better trade deals because of all of our leverage?
Correct.

Now we have to spend billions on top of the economic losses (short term for now) to get leverage?
To maintain leverage.

Come on now, SFP.

My experience with farmers has been everything you mentioned but additionally the ones I know complain constantly. These are sugarcane farmers.

Soybeans are the single largest Chinese imported item from the US

Not any more. Seems like China found willing trade partners elsewhere, one of which is a country we bailed out.

Now we are having to bailout our farmers for the second fricking time because of Trumps stupid tariffs.

It’s almost like bailouts are a feature, not a bug, of Trumps economic policy.

Not sure how anyone with an IQ above 50 can say this is some art of the deal BS.

Why does a department have an internal account with billions of dollars in it?

It’s sometimes hard to grasp exactly how massive our bureaucracy is.

So.....Trump gets outplayed by Xi on the tariff game, leading Xi to go cut a deal wit Argentina for soybeans thereby screwing American farmers necessitating said bail out.......then bailing out Milei in Argentina. Argentina wins Xi wins US foots the bill......farmers get free money, Argentina gets almost free money.
then what happens moving forward under this admin?

Farmers had their workforce deported and the largest buyer of soybeans opt for Argentina. No easy solutions here. But a bailout isn't it.

If we have to engage in billions of socialism and welfare, do we have that leverage?

We can always go into socialism and the public coffers to manipulate markets.

I’m getting crushed a the pump and at the grocery store. Where the hell is my bailout?!?

The welfare queen farmers always come to the government with their hands out when times are tough. But they don’t give us refund when they are rolling in money.

When Bobby Fischer sacrificed his queen in a chess match, the audience probably asked similar questions. Three moves later his opponent was checkmated. Sometimes the curative medicine tastes nasty.
