I don't math too good and don't have a calculator to be exact but I believe that would make him 78 two years from now in 2024. That is old as shite. Why is this not discussed more often?

Just like in sports, we need to pick the best man for the job, not trot out old has-beens because they are "entitled" to the job based on past accomplishments or because they got screwed out of the job a while back.

Also the people that think we can get 12 consecutive years of presidency between Trump and then DeSantis are dumb as hell.

It is time for the torch to be passed. It was a (mostly) good run.

He has the brain of a 40 year old. I mean Jack LaLanne sold juicers and worked out until he was 100.

He's 76 but his energy level is of someone 20 years younger. Just because Biden is borderline room temperature doesn't mean Trump is.

Hence why Trump is in the mix.

If his mental capacity is an issue, then what you say makes sense. However, my grandfather was sharp as a tack until he hit 90.

If that can do the job well, why is his age an issue?

Age becomes an issue if Joe does not run.

If someone like Amy Klobuchar runs the GOP is screwed if Trump runs. The Dems/media will use age as a cudgel against Trump and Klobuchar and the Dems will run to the center attracting suburban women again.

Trump's best chance is if Biden runs again. If not, the GOP's best chance is DeSantis.

Trump as president, DeSantis as VP. Trump goes scorched Earth for two years and one day, and then steps down to go frick his hot wife as part of his retirement plan.

DeSantis takes over for the remainder of the term. Then he is re-elected twice.

That is 12 years and Trump is out at 80.

How, exactly, is this a dumb plan?

spent a week at his hotel in Doral a couple years ago - there was an age management clinic there

also his noted orange skin color is a frequently seen side effect of taking beta-carotene supplements

Trump needs Biden to run in 2024.

If Biden runs he will pivot to the center during the general election but it will come off as insincere based on his record.

If the Dems nominate someone like Amy Klobuchar, her running to the center will appeal to suburban women and will appear genuine and be a real problem for Trump.

There is nothing at this point that makes me believe Trump is the best man for the job in a field that includes DeSantis. There is of course an extremely steep drop off after BDR of laughable candidates like Haley, Pence, etc.

But in terms of policies, they are almost 100% in-sync. My gut tells me DeSantis might be a little more hawkish on foreign policy but that's about it, and you can see his voting record in Congress.

Everything else, he's in line, or better, like on COVID. And without all the sideshow, childish bullshite. He takes on the media and opposition (but I repeat myself) and does a vastly better job of it. But I also can't imagine him taking to social media to try to have a kidlike fight with Elon Musk. And I've seen nothing to indicate half his cabinet would be a revolving door of dipshits.

I agree, it's too fricking old. I'm tired of octogenarians in charge. For all the forever Trump folks, surely they realize that health today is irrelevant for health tomorrow at that age.

So many people just hit a wall. My grandmother went from mowing her grass one day to assisted living by year end, and dead the next year. My cousin's mom had an accident and it sent her into rapidly progressing dementia, just in the past couple month.

I'll take someone in their 40s-60s, please. Trump should be an important and influential figure, he just doesn't have to be president.

We will agree to disagree.

The Dems ONLY viable candidate is Big Mike.

That’s it (and only because the Dems will be all in on the freak factor / name recognition).

You cross that bridge when you come to it.

I prefer the experience factor. As stated, scorched Earth. I believe that he is on a mission.

He does, however, how will he hold up against an onslaught of lies extending over multiple years? I know what Trump can do, DeSantis...I can only speculate.

Lastly, even though I am more than willing to vote for DeSantis, I still don’t trust him fully.

Just my .02.

Trump shows absolutely no signs of mental decline whatsoever but I recognize and agree with your point. He's morbidly obese and will be 78 during the next election. At some point level-minded people have to be honest with themselves about what an old age and obesity combination means. I'll enthusiastically vote for Trump if he runs but I want DeSantis to be the candidate. A Trump/DeSantis ticket would be a very acceptable ticket, though.

Good. Then he is the perfect man for the job. Someone wanting to be elected for 8 years will just be business as usual.
