I hope Trump diverts the Ukraine money directly to them. This is the type of foreign investment I can get behind. The skilled illegals can become functioning members of their society. The criminals can rot in jail. Absolute win/win for us and El Salvador.

The Safe Third Country is a requirement of Asylum Treaties. Those treaties require an Asylum Seeker to request asylum in the first safe country they cross into. It probably gives the US more flexibility in dealing with this problem plus discourages some illegals from trying to get to the US, where they may not be allowed to make an asylum claim because they didn't make one when they were in a safe third country.
Correct. It also allows the US to send people with Withholding of Removal to there instead of allowing them to live inside of the US.

If the recent stories of undeveloped mineral resources in El Salvador and their Presidents desire to develop them are true, this may be a big opportunity for El Salvador to develop industry and attract foreign investment to make it happen.

Least they could do, after emptying their prisons and knowingly sending their criminals here to enter the U.S. through our open border over the last couple years. Trump knows they did this and called him out on it during the campaign, a few months ago.
