The intelligent tactical course of action is to take the strait of Hormuz militarily and prove to the Arab states that we can control freedom of navigation because eventually they’re gonna get sick of it regardless of how much Iran has attacked them and push us out to enter into an agreement with Iran that allows them to get their oil to the global market.

Yeah I posted it in another thread earlier. They were attempting to launch missiles that deploy mines from Larak island into the strait. Our guys caught them and hit them first it appears.

Do you not understand the circumstances at play there.
They have MAJOR issues on their own accord.
Water is VERY scarce, their capital city sits in the rain shadow of a fairly large mountain range, there is an incredibly dry desert to the south of Tehran, and another to the SE, they have very limited access to the Caspian, they have multiple ethnic groups that have been oppressed via intimidation and violence, the power grids runs on gas (which was severely bombed) and now resupplying the coastline of the Persian Gulf has become incredibly difficult.
Let me guess, you want boots on the ground. Why?

Unless you are talking about an MEU or Seal Team, then I disagree with you.
The USS Tripoli is in the Gulf of Oman. Perhaps you should look up its capabilities.
Lastly, removing the mines in the Strait was always going to be a challenge. That being said, it isn’t impossible, it will simply take time.

A MEU would be my first choice. I’m well aware of their capabilities. However a heliborne assault from the other side of the strait is probably more feasible. If we brought an ARG into the strait they’d see the assault days in advance.

Why would you?
From the position it is currently in, you have perpetual air cover, and the ability to run Helo-ops.
I’m not sure why you find that tactic (coupled with Iran’s implosion) to be acceptable. This is a veritable siege.
It’s calculated, and actually quite brilliant imho.
