I don’t enjoy that at all. There were tons of illegal votes that were counted.

Part/parcel of having a "malleable" Republican president. You're the one that says all that matters is the tax cut and you're not concerned about him being shitty in all other respects.

Not referring to you necessarily, but it's funny to watch Trump superfans out of their minds about all the cheating in 2020 but seemingly unaware that it was Trump leading the country when all the cheating was enabled/set up. In fact, I believe hundreds of millions of Covid money, that Trump lobbied for and signed off on, went to election/voting related actions.

What was trump to do about SOSs breaking state law?

Right and since when do individual states have the right to say there’s a virus emergency we’re ripping up the constitution for “two weeks”?

For a guy in charge, he sure was a victim. So powerless.

I like leaders, not demagogues.

What could trump do, specifically, about SOSs illegally ignoring state election laws?

Biggest issue to you. Trump’s performance during a pandemic is not in my top 50 issues for the 2024 election.

He folded once, he will fold again.

Well there’s really nothing that can be done about that which is why elections are a farce and the country needs to split up

Well, when you have the lap dogs Trump does, you just pretend it never happened, say it never happened, and watch them parrot it.

Enjoy your tax cut.
I’m getting screwed. I can no longer deduct software developmer salaries. Imagine only being able to deduct 1/10th of an employees salary does to a tax bill.

Yup. Part of the 2017 “tax cut” bill included changes to Section 174 that reclassifies software development as R&D, thus has to be amortized over 5 years, rather than deducted as an expense. I don’t have the full picture yet, but apparently went into effect (or enforced?) in 2022. Luckily, only a few employees aren’t reimbursable as directs. But it looks like i’m for a mid-six figure tax bill and maybe same for last year. I’m still in “that cannot possibly be real” mode.

Small software operators are screwed. No cash. If you wonder why there so many layoffs in tech-now you know.

First thing, don't write hundred million dollar checks to assist them in breaking the law and don't let anybody pretend that a bad cold is a reason to set the constitution on its ear.

Beyond that, "what would Biden do?" Or Obama. Do that.

See if trump were an honest man which he’s not he would admit he was wrong and say I’d never do something like this again. It’s not like people wouldn’t forgive him

Whoever the Swedish president was then I’d prefer that guy to trump. Same with one of the six or so governors who never shut their states down. Noem and a few others

Sadly...many state courts said they could (although higher courts typically reversed). SCOTUS was pretty much hands off on state cases, buy dropped multiple hammers on federal actions.

This is a terrific analogy I love Harry Potter. Was a big part of my childhood and so much of it applies to real life and what’s going on today
