With the reduction in cash transactions I would think the current supply of pennies should last quite a while.

I mean, they don't wear out in a couple years and relatively few people use cash compared to ten or twenty years ago.

They were still trying to tear down his statues a few years ago

Somehow this is racist. I’m not sure yet how but I’m sure by morning they will have talking points.

Wrong. It is clearly sexist... see, women earn 76 cents to the male dollar. Now she only makes 75 cents.

Clerk: That will be $5.98.

My wife (no pics): Here’s a $5, hold on I have the $0.98 cents. Starts digging thru her purse.

The half cent on the sales tax is what makes up the extra penny

I'm aware. The price on the can is $0.99. The point is there are no longer half cent coins (there used to be) so I save the half cent on the rounding if I only buy 1. I'd imagine something similar would happen if enough pennies fell out of circulation (will probably take a while)

Leading to the end of cash

Will also cause taxes to increase because they will round up

Prices are quoted at $X.99 because it sounds cheaper. Psychology doesn't change.

We'll also see the still see .99 for items that are sold in quantities of 5.

Here, where I live, gasoline is $2.789 (guess, i haven't left the house today)

It already rounds up.

Pennies cost more to make than they are worth. There's plenty enough to worry about as to when or if we go cashless- this isn't one of those harbingers, though.

Btw- I like cash, would never want to be in a cashless society.

No, they will be x.95. Clearly you don't understand why things are X.99 vs X.00.

It's because dumb people sse 3.9X and thinks it's a better deal than 4.00 even though they're basically the same number. They think they are getting better value.

So, with that principle in mind, prices will obviously go to .95 instead of .99.

Does that mean tax on the dollar goes from $.07 (here) to $.10?

If he can do this. Can he instruct them to stop issuing US Treasurys?
