A compromise would be banning bump stocks, but taking silencers off the NFA list. This is simply giving in to people who will never have enough and won’t stop until the only thing left is total confiscation.

I think it's a smart move on Trump's part. It's effectively meaningless in real terms, but it mollifies his critics. It makes it appear that he is "doing something" about gun violence.

I’m not sure I like the idea of an outright ban. Maybe make it a requirement to have an FFL or some type of license.
