It still has to be approved by Congress.

He's painted Congress into a corner. They either approve the new deal (which you know the Dems would LOVE to derail such a huge Trump win) or there is no deal at all.

Destroy it and sign no replacement. Free trade needs to go away.

if the administration wanted that they'd have bailed on the negotiations when they failed to get the 5 year sunset and the end of arbitration for cross-border disputes

I’m sure we’ll be hearing from some Judge ruling that he can’t do that.

God the 5 year sunset was so dumb.,. Businesses have to have stability... what they ended up with is much better

Some democrats have started saying maybe it’s not progressive enough so this is a way for Trump to gain leverage... it’s either nothing or usmca. And while some may bitch, every business lobby will be beating down doors to make sure it passes now

Interesting that GHWB and his NWO NAFTA die nearly on the same day.

This, on the weekend that 41 passes away. Trump is just awesome with how he sticks it to his opposition when they’re in a weakened position.

I absolutely love it.

NAFTA doesn't empower the president, acting alone, to withdraw from the treaty.

Although the 1974 Trade Act grants US presidents the authority to unilaterally withdraw from trade agreements, the fact that NAFTA was implemented through legislation suggests Congress must also sign off on any changes to the agreement, including a withdrawl, according to experts.
It remains unclear, however, whether Congress would definitively have the final say on any attempt from Trump to pull out of the deal, and legal experts have speculated that if Trump does try to withdraw, the case may end up in the courts. LINK

Was the 1974 Trade ACT legislation, also?

By its name, I would suspect it was.

They're gonna have a hard time saying the President is acting outside the law.
