I would think that Trump would want Biden to be the nominee and therefore not run attack ads against him, but I'm no political strategist. I would assume the Trump campaign knows someting I don't.

My first thought as well.
Maybe Trump feels that Biden is the one Dem who can unite all of the big money, so he's destroying that front before it can form.

I actually feel somewhat bad for Joe. He's part of the old guard and his party has left him behind in their race to complete ridiculousness. Yet, the old D power brokers don't know who else to run. Joe just wants to quietly live out the rest of his days after 50 years of being a do-nothing politician. He doesn't have the desire to run for president. And if there is one thing that is clear about Trump, that MFer's will grind on the campaign trail.
If Trump can get Joe out of the way, then all the D's are left with is a collection of misfits and loonies. He did it in the Republican primary by systematically taking down the establishment choices. Bush. Then Marco. Then Cruz.
