This is tricky for me.
On one hand I believe in free speech.
On the other, there are limits to that and if you are willing to burn the symbol of our nation, then you are willing to give up your rights.
Jail time is severe, but community service should be required.

Things are covered under the 1st amendment until SOTUS determines that it isn't. Some things are protected against destruction.
You go to jail for a while if you kill a Bald Eagle.
ETA: The above statement doesn't reflect my stance on the topic....just as a discussion. I don't agree with burning the flag at all but it is covered by the 1st amendment.
