Trump Announces Considering Reducing US Troops In Germany

I hope this happens, not only in Germany but all over Europe!

I hope they follow through with this.
Reading between lines it seems this could possibly be concession to Russia to end Ukraine war while also simultaneously telling Europe and NATO kiss my arse you don’t have our backs.
Could be a huge win/win.
Leave NATO and also end Ukraine war?

It would be awesome if the troops we send home from Germany could set up bases in our large cities and do training around town to deter crime (similar to NG deployment)

This will disproportionately affect communities that have relied on our presence for decades. Shouldn’t be a priority but I’m just pointing it out.
I can also see this hurting recruiting. A chance for broadening/overseas assignments is why many officers commission into the armed forces.

Anyone who joins the military because they want to live in Germany probably isn't joining for the right reasons.

That’s not our problem, sorry.
Also if you join the military to simply travel or live overseas then you are doing it for the wrong reasons. It’s way cheaper and less restrictive to backpack Europe for a couple months if that’s the only thing you want out of it.
