Because of the playbook your side uses, it is almost infinitely cheaper to have someone self-deport. You could probably triple the $2500 and have it be cheaper than the cost to deport someone, on average.
On top of that, the savings to the system after their deportation is tens of thousands per deportee.

Of course, there was a spike during Trump‘s presidency. Here’s a hint. I did not post one single comment or topic during the latter part of Trump‘s last presidency or during Biden‘s presidency
