Which means, the expense side is market driven.
I don't know how you can continue to miss this.

since covid, staff nurses have gone down in numbers, and agency nurses have gone up. I can see how frustrating it is for when she is responsible for her patients, and the agency ones. She has to teach them the hospital procedures/protocols, and they get easier assignments. There is also a lot of bullying, nepotism, and non-real management as you get into lower levels.
quote:That is bullshite, FWIW. You can’t call out non-performers because it makes Administrators look bad ... and perhaps liable.
You can’t call out non-performers because it looks a certain way.

ETA--medical professionals lose their license all of the time due to inadequate staffing.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard “it’s my license on the line,” I would’ve purchased a nice home on 30A.

I have read 1st three pages but unionizing nurses is not going to work out well for quality health care.
The poor patient who gets stuck with the shitty nurse that they can't fire.

Time to close that crap down. It’s going to be even more of a shite show now.

the practical reality of the situation prevents unions from being a true answer,
Until there is any other answer, unions are the only answer.
Hospitals aren’t trying to solve their own voluntary understaffing problems.

Because the fat cats have a thousand times the responsibility. Now do airline pilot and flight attendant. Why not give some of that pay to the flight attendant?
Not a very good comparison…when my life is circling the drain in the middle of the night in the hospital, I’m hoping the RN is not too overstaffed to notice and the CEO can go get fricked for understaffing the place so his/her profit margins keep that bonus coming. CEO’s of hospitals care very little about patient safety until a problem hits the media.

Most people could become nurses, very few can become a CEO.
How many hospital CEOs do you know? I’ve met quite a few, not many of whom I would trust with decisions about my family’s healthcare.

My older brother is a CFO, you dont get handed C-suite jobs.
My older sister has been CFO at a hospital, and still I will tell you that you are delusional.
Most corporate owned hospitals are run by C-suites who have no souls. They care for their bonuses and their prestige. They will cut costs in areas that GREATLY affect patient care without even feeling a bit of guilt. Some people feel safe when they are in the hospital. Ask me, or any other RN and we will assure you that most are very dangerous places to be - and most of us don’t leave family members alone.

Both have a minimum requirement of a two year, community college degree. The complexities don’t exist as you describe
The trend for the past several years is for hospitals to require minimum of Bachelors (BSN) for new hire RNs and for any currently employed RNs to obtain their BSN within a certain time frame.

You don’t have a clue about what a CEO does. That same nurse spent the rest of her day making videos for Tik tok and scrolling instagram.
You are as much of a shallow thinker as Roger. You two sure think highly of your intelligence levels and insight for how little you know about the subject that you think you’re experts on.
