since covid, staff nurses have gone down in numbers, and agency nurses have gone up. I can see how frustrating it is for when she is responsible for her patients, and the agency ones. She has to teach them the hospital procedures/protocols, and they get easier assignments. There is also a lot of bullying, nepotism, and non-real management as you get into lower levels.

I have read 1st three pages but unionizing nurses is not going to work out well for quality health care.

Not a very good comparison…when my life is circling the drain in the middle of the night in the hospital, I’m hoping the RN is not too overstaffed to notice and the CEO can go get fricked for understaffing the place so his/her profit margins keep that bonus coming. CEO’s of hospitals care very little about patient safety until a problem hits the media.

Most corporate owned hospitals are run by C-suites who have no souls. They care for their bonuses and their prestige. They will cut costs in areas that GREATLY affect patient care without even feeling a bit of guilt. Some people feel safe when they are in the hospital. Ask me, or any other RN and we will assure you that most are very dangerous places to be - and most of us don’t leave family members alone.

The trend for the past several years is for hospitals to require minimum of Bachelors (BSN) for new hire RNs and for any currently employed RNs to obtain their BSN within a certain time frame.
