Kind of depends on who you ask, but three is a more common minimum number. Just used the headline from the story.

Did Derrick Todd Lee's articles play up that he was black and killed a bunch of white women?
Because that's actually newsworthy considering serial killers normally target within their own race.

I mean, this is more spree killer behavior (if Gleason actually did more than one of these) - more akin to what Muhammad & Malvo did in in D.C./NOVA than a traditional serial killer, which is normally a sex/power cross up in a fricked up individual.
Traditional serial killers rarely cross color lines, particularly white serial killers, as well.

It appears the DA's office has a ton of ballistics evidence against this guy, from the crime scene of both homicides that matched ballistics from when he shot up that black families house in the same neighborhood in which he lived with his parents.
I am not sure if BRPD actually possesses the firearm or not, since that part was never disclosed during the investigation.
