I feel like we need to talk about this further
Also, I imagine women wrasslers are expected to keep short nails- dudes too, I bet.

Sounds like dad needs to step in here.
Nah.
He should have stepped in and forbidden his daughter from wrestling a male in the first place and then rampaged through the school and/or the local school board like Godzilla through Tokyo on anybody who said "boo" about it.
This whole thing never should have happened.

As a female- I can assure you it most certainly does matter.

Are you serious? It’s expected you’ll be touched by a person with the same equipment as you- she was “oil checked” by a friggin dude with at least one confirmed sexual fetish.
Which is why she should have refused to wrestle him. Engaging in this match was completely voluntary on her part.
I don't have much sympathy here. Indulging this nonsense is why it persists.

Ever considered that some laws, like that allow for unconsented intimate contact between opposite sex athletes are... WRONG?

of the 3 lies I told in that sentence that was the mildest lie.

Did she know prior to agreeing to wrestling him?

I'm assuming so, but I don't know that for a fact.
I'm kind of assuming that it was obvious just from looking at him. It almost always is.

I don't think they have a lot of time to check each other out prior to being called to the circle. I'd imagine it's easy to assume in women's wrestling that you'll be wrestling another woman and may not have paid much attention to whether or not it really is.
They don't have cross sex wrestling for a reason.

I don't know whether I buy that she didn't know, but o.k., of no one knew she'd be wrestling a dude, then no one could have stopped it before it happened.

I don't think some of you know how intimate wrestling can be. Some dudes plunge their fingers in other guys anal entries for a better grip or to cause huge pain.

I don't know either.
What I do know is she should never have been put in that situation. Sports are sex segregated for purposes of fairness, safety, and propriety.
Girls shouldn't be put in positions by adults to be surprised, or succumb to team pressure, or fear missing out on opportunities by their refusal to play along.
Girls AND boys should be protected by the adults in charge of these sports.

No such thing. You’re either male or female. So it should say “male” wrestler, not something else.
Quit playing games with the mentally ill and call them what they are.

There we go, so I was wrong.
So now they should sue the hell out of the school for putting her in that position and partially facilitating the action. The fact that the school violated Executive Order 14201 in order to do it should make it a pretty strong case, I would think.
Just because authorities won't criminally prosecute doesn't mean she doesn't have a civil case. And if she really didn't know, then I don't see how a consent form holds up unless it specifies that she may end up wrestling a dude.
Come to think of it, it shouldn't matter even if it did say that, since contracts that stipulate illegal actions are null and void. At least that's my non-lawyer understanding.

Well, yeah. It's illegal. Trump signed an EO banning it.
