How dare these so called service members defy their CNC? I’m sure Trump will accept their resignations whole heartedly.

hover over the link and it says NY Times.

The Navy secretary publicly dissed Trump on the Gallagher matter and said without a formal request he is going forward on the review board for Gallagher. Trump should fire him

I don’t know the details of the Gallagher case but at this point they don’t matter. That admiral and secretary need to be publicly fired and humiliated and made an example out of.

Didn't Gallagher say there a lot of SJWs in the SEAL ranks?

That's honestly one of the biggest disappointments of the Trump Admin for me being that he has not done enough to get these leftist SJWs out of the military that continue to treat the military as a social experiment.

Oh well, still voting Trump in 2020 because he's way better than whatever socialist loon democrats will put up.

I've heard/read both extremes. Gallagher is just a warrior doing his job, and Gallagher is a sick pup who gets off on killing civilians. It's not just the brass criticizing him, a lot of the rank & file team members are as well, so it's not cut & dried IMO.

So I don't know if Trump's decision is a good one or not. I do know once it's made any military member who bucks it should have his arse on the way out, good decision or not. That's exactly what they'd do to their subordinates who tried to subvert their command authority because they disagreed with it.

Made me remember the story of Matthew McCabe and how the Navy brass treated him

There was this in the NBC article on this story...

quote:

Four officials familiar with Spencer’s thinking say he is strongly considering resigning and will do so if Trump signs a written order to end the Navy probe. He conveyed those feelings to Pentagon leaders on Thursday.

“He is deeply, deeply upset by this and believes it undercuts his authority,” one former Navy official said, adding that it also undercuts Rear Adm. Collin Green, commander of the Navy’s Special Warfare Command, who ordered the review and is trying to maintain good order and discipline in the SEAL community.

What Spencer refuses to understand and acknowledge that it is not his authority and does not belong to him, it belongs to Donald Trump.

It's the President's authority and it is an authority that Trump gave him permission him to exercise and Spencer does not have free reign to use it for whatever he pleases. Use of that authority ends when he wants to do something that the President opposes.

The constitution says that the executive power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. Pretty straightforward and says nothing about the Secretary of the Navy.

I think the President is picking a fight with these guys. Why, I can't tell. But there are quite a few bad apples in our military that need sorting. Vindman being a recent one that comes to mind.

The admiral will face judicial punishment for this, as he should.

This is unheard of. Let them resign or go to a court martial for disobeying a direct order. Trump's lawyers made it clear the case was over this is just an unneeded exercise to shun the man, IMO under the guise of political correctness. They got that he murdered a terrorist wrong.

The other thing to consider in this is that usually when you see these pics of abused enemy combatants and whatnot, if you look closely, you'll usually see some frickin CIA suits nearby.

It's a two-faced policy. On the one hand your "intelligence apparatus" is encouraging this behavior from the highest levels. On the other, dude is being punished for a culture they created.

It's a tough situation though, because that shite he did ain't cool.
