Right, let's just irreversibly implode the economy of the country and by extension, the whole world in a heartbeat before Trump can even get in office because our principles are more important.

Being conservative. Do you know what they will ever vote for?

They seem to be obstructionists for pure political gain.

Perhaps a bill that wouldn't make Nancy Pelosi proud?

They seem to be taking on a promise by Trump of being primaried. I don't see the gain in that for them.

Why do we get worked up about this every year? It’s political theater. Who gives a shite that our shitty government is shut down?

Political maneuver or spending money?
Rhey tried to make the bill seem smaller in scope by reducing by 1300pages. But as Nancy Mace pointed out—it spends just as much. I think we weren’t supposed to notice that. Or the unlimited debt ceiling g increases tucked into the bill.

Just wild speculation on my part. Backing this bill seems so backwards it’s hard to make any sense of it.

I've heard Hakeem Jeffries and Nancy Pelosi make this argument about a dozen times the last few years.

Yep. They just took out the J6 stuff along with all the things the dems wanted that had nothing to do with a budget.

Same money and no debt ceiling.

Why would I hate something because Lake was a member? Lake loses achingly winnable elections, and for that I am critical AF. I'm not critical of her political positions.

That is the flawed thinking which has us in the situation we face right now.

No more compromise! Either grab the rope and pull or you will get trampled.

Sorry if you think extending the debt limit out 2 years because you don’t want to deal with it the early summer of 2025 is conservative you’re a friggin idiot. There is never a good time to have a debt ceiling debate. In 2 years they’ll kick the can down the road because of the midterms and our debt problems roll on ad intonation. Trump should welcome a debt ceiling debate. He shouldn’t be scarred of it.

Now if you think that extending the debt ceiling for 2 years is the politically expedient thjng to do, fine. No argument there. But don’t call it conservative.

The lies some of yall believe is baffling.
