Just as I think law enforcement should be treated in the investigation, and prosecution if warranted, the same as your average citizen is, politicians should get the same leeway.
If your average citizen took steps to lie about, obfuscate whereabouts, or assist a wanted fugitive you are going to jail. If a politician does it they should too. Just like law enforcement, they are citizens too.
Just tell them as you put the cuffs on "no one is above the law".
