What year is this?
NBC has gotten burned by the Olympics repeatedly.
Biggest case was 1980 when the boycott meant no US competitors in Moscow, coinciding with the network flaming out under Fred Silverman.

At this point I’m hoping and praying all pro sports fold and go bankrupt.
I've been sliding toward that same conclusion ever since the MLB players went on strike decades ago. Until that time, I just enjoyed watching sports and playing in any kind of league I could in my spare time - the fact that some of them were 'getting paid' to do what I would do for free diidnt register with me until they started acting like it was a JOB.
From that point forward it has been just one more step away from my true ideal = true sportsmanship and honest competition. All the self-aggrandizement starting will Billy "white shoes" Johnson?? with the Houston Oilers decades ago also gave me disgust. That progressed in revulsion until colleges started 'buying" athletes and as that transformed into fukcing POLITICAL protestations on the playing field and awards stands, I saId "screw all THIS shite."
Don't know what it'll take to get my attention again. = more time than I have left to wait I am sure.
just don't care anymore.

Sitting in the back of a taxi fuming that the driver is getting paid for what I do for free

Watching that 17 year old win gold and seeing all the high school kids cheering her on from the gym in Alaska is what the Olympics is supposed to be and I’m glad I was watching that. Seems to be a difference in attitude to a large extent when the watching the “amateurs” and the “professionals”.
Glad to hear about this - shame it had to be on a Political Talk board dominated by conservative members.
THAT is the kind of thing that in a rational world would have been the headline news of any patriotic news organization - instead we get nothing but the kneelers, objectors, quitters, complainers, and malcontents.
Piss on the whole thing and the media whores who have led the charge of destroying everything that was once great about America.
I grieve for the few true athletes who have to struggle to hide their patriotism for fear of being isolated and mocked and shunned = and nobody hears of their successes. <== the biggest shame of all.

Good. They brought this on themselves

The woke advertising is getting so out of control that my 9 and 11 year old kids are noticing…

More like “hearing athletes whine that they aren’t pampered like some other country’s athletes.”
Ken Patera, an Olympic weightlifter, used to piss and moan about how he would have been able to get the gold medal at the 72 Games if he got the US to cover his steroid bill like the USSR did for Vasily Alekseyev, who set an Olympic record there.
