The basketball team sucks.
The girl’s soccer team is largely unlikable.
Biles withdrew.
Berry is a PR nightmare.

Having sporting events without fans is boring.

More mass marketed bullshite with a side of woke. Pass.
Haven’t watched one second.

Have I missed something? What have the athletes done besides Biles? Ledecky is swimming in a red white and blue suit for Pete sake

According to this board all 600 U.S. athletes have gone woke.

The no fans thing sucks and the Biles reaction is predictably dumb, and I can’t stand the commercial that plays the miss America theme while showing a bunch of female athletes, but I haven’t seen anyone kneeling or disrespecting our country. The girl who threw up the BLM hand isn’t even from here. Are we just hating all athletes now because of the NFL and NBA stuff?

The swim team is not as strong as they have been, but they are anti-woke. Their suits are American flags. They are singing God Bless America and America the Beautiful. They are cheering on their teammates.

Anti-Simone Ledecky won gold in the first ever women's mile race last night and all she wanted to talk about is how proud she was of her teenage teammate for upsetting her way to silver.

She gets upset in the 400 and the first thing she does is embrace her Australian rival.

Idiots picked the wrong female role model for these Olympics.

Instead, they worship a girl so full of herself that she puts a goat on her leotard (Greatest of All Time), then when she looks like she might not win, she quits.

Here's my question. We here all knew that the ratings would be in the shitter. How come the professional advertising executives didn't see it?
Are we just smarter than they are?

Collateral damage, unfortunately. It's a collective bed in which they all must sleep.

Well, I haven't taken this position. However, the unwoke athletes are as relevant as moderate Muslims in terrorist-run Islamic states.

Watching that 17 year old win gold and seeing all the high school kids cheering her on from the gym in Alaska is what the Olympics is supposed to be and I’m glad I was watching that. Seems to be a difference in attitude to a large extent when the watching the “amateurs” and the “professionals”.

They are a victim of their own cancel culture. They don’t sponsor they appear to be onboard with boycotting the wokeness. They’ve backed themselves into a corner where they can no longer make rational business decisions. Then again they are pushing communism so maybe they just don’t care.

They aren’t pushing communism, they are pushing their products. They just happen to live and work in NYC and LA where everyone is a woke moron so they think those attitudes our more broadly shared in the general public than they actually are.

With all the BLM BS of all major league sports, women’s soccer kneeling and lying about their pay, I’m just not interested in the Olympics and sports in general

Nothing above the level of local high school sports holds any interest for me. I will probably follow LSU Football until they do something 'woke' in my face, then I'll dump them like spoiled milk if they do.

wrt the Olympics, my interest was always more in the winter sports than the field and track stuff, and was never interested in the gymnastics and other made up crap. Of course the ladies in my house used to love that so I was a willing audience.

My only excuse for their low TV ratings is that it is on the other side of the world and the time difference completely bolloxes that all up. Cant really watch it live, and you are bound to heard anything exciting before it happened, so if you were a fan, you'd have to stay up all night or plug your ears all morning. Eyeballs on commercials are bound to fall. Especially with all the 'woke' ads and antics on the field.

As someone who worked in the business for 10 years and did a lot of Olympics analytics and research... networks promise high ratings to get the dollars up front to ensure they get the money on the books and will make it up on the back end if they need to.

The issue is when you have to make up this much it's harder to demand high ratings buys in the future

Multinational marketing departments are effectively retarded. They have a spend requirement mandated more than likely per annum so they couldn't pull back I would guess. I'm sure it takes years to plan an Olympic campaign.

I can see how Biles could cause a drop, but I don't know anyone who tunes in just for tennis. Tennis has its own grand slam events, just like soccer. Olympics don't fill any void there.

There's also the lack of any reliable guide to what's available to watch and what's coming on. As a viewer it requires work this time around.

At this point I’m hoping and praying all pro sports fold and go bankrupt. I’m still holding out hope for the collegiate level , but they are close to not being watched also.

Yep. I’ve been watching the prime time coverage and even then it’s hard to find out what’s going to come on and when. If swimming doesn’t start until 10, and you know that, tell us NBC.

See, Mrs. TigerAxe and I finally took the board's advice and canceled cable about a month ago. We still stream a few things and I pay $4.99/mo for OAN on Roku, but we don't catch any mainstream bullshite any more.

Stories like the one about the 17 year old Alaska girl taking gold in swimming warm my heart and make me happy, but I can't bring myself to endure the endless woke-ism in sports commentary, programming and commercials, so I just choose not to watch.

That's not just the Olympics. NFL, MLB, NBA, LSU athletics, all dead to me. I don't want any of it any more and since I won't watch it again until these idiots wake up and stop politicizing everything, I'm prepared to never watch any of it again.
