For context: Tim Pool has become a featured guest at TPUSA events, has done podcasts with Vivek and Tucker, and is seen as an ally to MAGA.

Is there a shift in perception about Reagan’s presidency on the right now? The post has 12k likes. Do you think there’ll be a further distancing of republicans/MAGA/America First types from Reagan?

Reagan had his faults like those before him, but no.

He was a great President.

Anyone who would say that is just dumb. And probably too young to remember anything that was going on at that time.

Tim Pool will say anything to drive engagement and impressions. The dude is one of the faces of the grifting epidemic the conservative movement is facing right now.

I don't think he was a great president. Like almost all of them, he chomped at the bit to grow the size and scope of the federal government.

But, he was nowhere near one of the worst.

If he lives long enough, he will probably grow out of it.

I’ve seen more than just him post negatively about Reagan. I wasn’t alive yet but I’ve heard great things growing up about Reagan. In the past year and a half it seems the perception has changed. Maybe just due to a younger generation coming up.

I’m pretty sure Tim Poole believes that because he is a former Occupy Wall Street commie phag, but for some strange reason, a lot Trump supporters lap up what he says.

I wonder why?

What a bad take. Reagan, personally, was not much of a policy guy but he was a great speaker and presidential presence. What made his administration effective generally was that he brought with him to the White House a group of republican intellectuals who had a clear vision of reform and action. That administration was very successful in negotiating with Democrats in Congress and getting real legislation passed. Love or hate what they were doing, they were absolutely effective.

Watching the Republican Party deteriorate to a personality cult to, of all people, Donald Trump, has been painful. There are no prominent republican intellectuals anymore. Trump doesn’t bring anyone around him with ideas or ability. It’s all about loyalty to a single person despite his lack of any valuable qualities.

The first rule of Trump’s Republican Party is that “Thou shalt not put anyone above Trump.”

Trump has to be the bast president ever. No one, alive or dead, can be above Him.

We have Republican candidates advocating for a 57% inheritance tax but he says some cool Shiite about the deep state. Think about that for a damn moment.

These figs have zero understanding of what conservatism is, how to argue for it, and how to accomplish it. Reagan got his tax cut through with a Democrat house.

I disagree. Reagan was the first president I voted for to win his second term. Reagan was very good in his first term however then as alzheimer's creeped in during his second term the CIA Bush clan started to make serious inroads into executive policy.

Most people did not recognize GHWB leaving his footprints on Reagan's second term at the time but looking back they are evident. The most glaring was the amnesty bill that from the outside looked like SoH Tip O'Neal convinced Reagan to sign in 1986. But looking back GHWB more than likely puppeteered Reagan at the time to sign the bill given his mental state.

As a result of the 1986 Amnesty bill Reagan signed, California vaporized from the GOP in a few short years.

Eh. He did some good things, but also some bad things. Like many conservatives, he ushered in some "progressive" platforms thinking that it would get "liberals" to like him.
