Are you saying that Ron’s supporters are basically a small sub-group within the Republican party who identify as “traditional conservatives”—whatever the hell that means?
Yes.
I'm sure his contingent includes a smattering of others too, but in general people who favor Ron are traditionalist Americans who are annoyed at the vapid nature of our culture at large, including, of course, the entirety of the Trump movement.

File this under “well no shite”, and I really like Desantis, but this was a huge misstep that he will have to reconcile with conservatives. He needs to name the people that forced him to do this, and why he caved to their pressure… going anywhere forward

Already making excuses. Not a cult

It's useful to remember that a huge percentage of the most outspoken Trump types on SM, etc. were never interested or involved in conservative ideology until Trump made it entertaining for them and gave them a community they could be a part of.
So many of those types have nothing going on - no family, no careers, etc. - you see it a good bit on this board.

By refusing to let go of a man that has led us to 3 losses in a row.

If Trump doesn't run again after 2024 then these people won't have much going for them in their lives

You should be more mad at DeSantis. How has he not gained more popularity and taken over the party?

They'll migrate to something else. It's why we see so many former Dem voters enthusiastic by Trump being led around by former Obama proponent grifters now claiming the Trump banner.
If nothing else the Trump era completely demolished any idea that people on the purported "right" are by and large more substantive than those on the left. The backbone of the Trump movement are instagram and twitter influencers.

All he had to do was wait until 2028 and he would have almost undivided support.

I don't think anything was going to work after Dems got involved with all the charges. They knew exactly what would happen if they turned Trump into a victim

we all said this since 2020

This was obvious nearly 6 months ago. There was a window when someone could have maybe taken Trump’s feet from under him but no one with even a remote chance has emerged. I

Media/infotainment on the right has been consumed by grifters
It will be interesting to see if/how they explain themselves after the inevitable landslide loss happens.

The many said to wait until 2028 and he would get the votes then.
He did not listen.
He did not listen.

He underestimated the fealty of the cult
Posted on 12/5/23 at 6:53 pm to jlnoles79
So who on the right would win, then?
