I can’t speak to decades ago, but I don’t remember it being this nakedly political post-Gore v. Bush. But maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.

This sounds like a great boom and all, but pointless if he isn't going to force Roberts to show us what they are going to do with the leaker.

Until then the Court isn't doing itself to many favors. We are all pissed about how the left has ruined the lower courts, and we on the Right have some kind of faith in 5 out of the 9 SCOTUS ones. Now we are seeing that faith getting chipped away at.

Arghghghgh Roberts another freaking Bush Jr legacy.

I suspect it was like this around Roe but I way too young to be paying attention. More recently half the country, if not more, knew exactly how they were going to vote on gay marriage. And they knew that without reading a single thing about the case aside from "the Supreme Court is going to decide on gay marriage". Another half is convinced they're all in the pocket of big business because of Citizens United.

If you think people have just recently, or will soon decide to view the court as political just because Clarence Thomas took a dig at the media I don't know what to tell you. I guess lawyers may still look at them as black-robed demigods; to most politically aware people that emperor has been naked for a long, long time.

This difference between him and the liberal justices are that his opinions are scholarly and based on a correct interpretation of the Constitution as written. Political hacks don't do that.

He should be partial to the Constitution. Impartiality is a myth and anyone who think judges don't bring biases to the bench is some kind of stupid.
