Exactly, I'm one of the "non-essential" furloughed employees that has been sitting at home for 3 weeks. But 2 weeks ago when South Louisiana got 3 inches of rain and everyone started looking at the river gages and wanted to know why "X" gage wasn't fixed, why is "Y" gage reading wrong, or is my house gonna flood, my non-essential arse got really popular with parish and local officials emails. Funny how that works, I'm a spoiled unneeded government worker until you're shits about to flood.

Your post helps to make my point about the Federal government being too powerful. The states should be handling their business and should not cede their power/money to an overreaching Federal government that’s only gotten more powerful with each passing generation.

We the people don’t need a federal behemoth. There’s not one person who audits private sector companies/organizations that wouldn’t be appalled at the inefficient manner that nearly all government bureaucracies are currently operating.

This. My GF works in accounting and audits big clients in the private sector. She’s been on three fortune 100 companies.

She says looking at a balance sheet from a government-ran organization makes her cringe. There is so much waste and nothing is done. Nobody is held accountable.

I generally agree and term limits would go a long way towards trimming the extreme pork.
