A lot of homeless are homeless by choice

The ones not homeless by choice are usually invisible as they take advantage of churches, charities, government programs, shelters, and obey the rules needed to be allowed to stay in the shelter. They also are trying to get out of their situation.

Then you have the homeless by choice. They don't utilize these charities because they aren't willing to have to obey the rules in order to get access to them, i.e. stay sober, don't use drugs, be respectful, and obey curfew. These are generally the types you see out panhandling on intersection corners and exit ramps and sleeping on sidewalks in tents.

Americans are free to be homeless if they choose to.

A lot of homeless people have mental issues that would require thousands in treatment...and even that might not change anything.

Saw a homeless guy at about 5am in Downtown BR and he was just sitting on a crate screaming at who knows what, and he was really animated too like he was spazzing out.

The only way to end it is to cut aid to them off completely. They either starve or they pull themselves together and figure it out

Most of the aid to these people come from Churches, Christian Churches that are following the teachings of their Savior:

And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”

Are you really proposing to these people to stop doing what they have been directed to do?

I have worked in many a church soup kitchen. it's been great for me, my wife, my kids, and the ones that truly need help. I have quite a few good stories...and only the occasional bad one. I don't believe it's the fed's job to provide these things, and am perfectly fine volunteering.

I volunteer all the time, and in the video you can see that a lot of the people are getting things - almost all of it are coming from community outreach / church things... it's not the government. I would say the vast majority of these people are helped out by the generous sect of humanity. The people that live to help the poor, the sick, the hurting and it turns out a lot of these people belong to churches.

I believe no matter how good things get in any area - there is going to be a homeless population. I also wouldn't be surprised that as times get good, more and more people become homeless because as times get good more of those "generous types" have more money to give to the poor and needy. I also believe as times are good, in places like LA, the housing and cost of living increase above what some people are able to afford, and then become homeless themselves. It's a vicious cycle.

Often a total lack of self motivation is the result of no skills, addictions and or low intellect. Easier to say you are not motivated than admit to being a totally useless piece of shite. Lots of people can't function in a first world, 21st century economy.
