Right. I keep catching DVs on these posts with little attendant discussion. Weird. I guess that's what happens when feelings confront fact?

Not as punishment for being extraordinarily successful, but because the majority of the uber-wealthy have turned on us (the middle/upper-middle class) politically, and it would be good to see them have to live with the politics they publicly espouse. TA has debated me inch by inch, and it's the above argument he makes that is the one I can't get past. We don't need more money in government's hands. We need less. We need everything defunded. Everything.
And I *do* get your side of the argument. You really made me think through it. Iron sharpens iron. It's always tempting to deliver a comeuppance to those we perceive as hurting us.

But I don't see "the rich" as the root of our problems.

Our biggest government spending items are all directed to middle and lower class. Over 50% of the population pays no income tax. A significant portion has a NEGATIVE liability. "The rich" have a MUCH higher share of the tax burden today than they did 50 years ago. The bank bailouts certainly benefited "the rich"... but they benefited property owners much more by propping up their home values. Wealth transfer program have EXPLODED since the 1960s. If "the rich" are running everything, they are doing a really crappy job of it.

Bogey man arguments are very easy. That's why I can't wait to see the $-amount and list of "rich" people that control everything. It's very easy to say "the rich" are terrible. But few seem to be able to tell us exactly who they are.

I believe that the two parent working model has led to a rise in obesity because you no longer have someone at the house that has the time to do food preps. It is hard for a working person to spend two hours or so after they get home. It wasn't like that back then as people cooked food from scratch, food prep was a job.

Finding the so called healthy food is like finding a needle in a haystack as you find nothing but sugar and carbs at all these major retailers.

There's nothing quite like seeing how angry people get when they find out they are -in fact- rich. You'd think they'd be happy?

I mean, I could make the same argument about your gas station story, but I’ll just say that no one is getting rich working for me

The "gas station story" home was old but ~1400sqft, whlch we thought was great. Its location coincided with about 30 homes the fellow described as "shitholes" that no one would live in. It was torn down. The 30 "shitholes" weren't.

Those "shitholes" which he claimed no millennial would live in, are EASILY equal or better to our place and ""neighborhood"" at that time.

But here's what is disappointing, my post was not to brag, or to poor mouth, or to evoke sympathy or compliment. It was simply posted as a matter of fact.

That was how MsNC and I got along.
That's where we had our first kid ..... and .... here's another Gen-Y nonstarter ..... We used cloth diapers, and cleaned them ourselves to save money. By the time our second was born we could afford disposables .... we were RICH !!!

Things are very different now. But we still look back fondly at those days.

no wonder you are so miserable and out of touch - you pay slave wages and expect free production.

must be a big part of why you are also out of touch about just about everything else.

Of course, it could be the shite education you received, or the drugs your mother took during gestation.. you have to be open minded to solve a crisis as deep as yours.

For sure. We have a lot more and cooler “stuff” these days, but there is a cost. With obesity, you utilize a lot more healthcare services, too, which has skyrocketed in cost, requiring people to work more. Our society really has become a rat race and part of it is cultural. There isn’t a lot of support out there for young couples wanting to go a more traditional route. Churches maybe, but a lot of people who aren’t religious could also enjoy a simpler life.

The problem with engaging with people like you is you constantly apply your own experiences to everyone else. That’s called projection. Your horrible parenting and worthless children aren’t representative of anything other than your shite existence. Tell your kids to come work for me. I won’t hold their father(or lack of one)against them.

Weird.
I guess that explains your gas station house dismissal?

Again, rather than talking about "the problem" with engaging others, lay out the facts supporting your position. Have you done that somewhere?

Pew is wrong. 237k might be middle class for a family of 8…

Middle class family of 4. 120k-150k.

250k upper middle.

500k upper class.

There is no end to your nasty habit of saying things that you do not know about, no?... ?

horrible parenting?

why do you insist on such miserable wretched lies about which you have no clue? You do it endlessly.

and BTW, there is plenty of evidence that you post this smarmy dishonest way because there is a recognized usage of intergenerational attacks as marxist. THAT is actually the point of the last couple of days and the future to come. It is easily recognized as people increasingly are learning.

The position of helping the enemy is not a good look.

Do you not acknowledge millennials are targeted as a group by Marxist organizations? .... because of your voting history, and your susceptibility to the self-destructive "Ok Boomer" meme?

You've argued that government is inevitably corrupted by money. Yet, you also argue that the government should be awarded the "rich"'s wealth.

Ah. Found where you’re completely wrong on my thoughts.

Never said this. Your putting words in my mouth. I said INCENTIVIZING companies through the tax code that employers raise wages in return for less of a tax bill. The government never gets it.

If a companies wants to pay a tax penalty instead of giving it to their employees then their CEO is a heartless POS. I just want to identify them.

Do you think Marxists are something new? Boomers seem to think these are new concepts. Who elected Bernie Sanders starting in 1991? Who elected Harry Reid? Nancy Pelosi? And on and on.
