Their actions heretofore sure don’t appear to be the actions of a regime that/who is very obsessed with staying in power. In fact they seem to be dangerously straddling that line with their every move. So JMO, but I’m not sure how much weight that theory carries.

Actually they have a religious outlook on everything. And I don't think their self interests always is more important than their religious interests.

Actually while for many other countries this is the case, I would say that iran is closest to being run by religious zealots.

Until is is just distasteful and omg, one of those weapons are "stolen" by a group and bam, there goes a portion of NYC.
The people in charge of iran were already offered billions to get up and walk away.
Their country would've gotten billions. But instead they still choose to make nuclear weapons.
Iran is outside the norm here. One plans for them differently. You don't base predictions on their behavior with self interest but with a combination of self interest and religious zeal.
The latter is why they can't be allowed to have nuclear weapons.

Not me.I believe that NOT acting in our best interests has seriously cost us in American lives and treasure since Korea. Let me preach on it.
Vietnam..hindsight is 20/20 but that stain on the human race Lyndon Johnson cost this country dearly...in a lot of ways. We should not have lost a single man here, because the people here were never really with us and we should never have been involved.
The Bushes were more disasters.Especially W. He had an opportunity after 9/11 and threw it away. You don't send ground troops into Afghanistan. The British Empire couldnt beat those people. The Red Army. NOBODY beats those people in a ground war. They WANTED us there they get off on it.
What should have been done when we knew where Bin Laden was,we nuke Tora Bora the camps poppy fields and everything else worth hitting. We had just been struck with an attempted decapitation strike, the country was angry and would have supported anything we did to strike back.
Tactical nuclear strikes , along with targeted assassinations of anyone behind the 9/11 attacks, and NOBODY would have dared said or done anything.A lot of Americans dead and maimed today would have been alive and whole and the world would have been a much better place, because our enemies would truly fear us.
When we rattled a saber after that, attention would have been paid.

IMO, this was a US weapons demonstration for Europe. They'll be wanting to buy their own bunker busters, patriot missiles, jets, etc.
