This board has something in common with the libs. They both hate Bill Maher.

The troglodytes on DU absolutely LOATHE Bill Maher. Probably more than some of you people do. Why? Because he challenges liberal orthodoxy and throws Democrats under the bus. Because he occasionally says something nice about Trump (he hates him, but not enough for their liking). Because he is not woke. The fact that you can make millions while both sides of the aisle hate you is proof that you're doing something right.
For additional reasons to like him, watch this:

Homie is trying to play both sides and he doesn’t know there’s a train coming.

He voted for Kamala.
And has stated that Newsome would be a cool president.
Not sure why anyone cares what he says.

No, he really isn’t. He does not mince words about the right. Just because he highlights some policies or actions he likes doesn’t mean he’s playing both sides.
Just because he highlights how fing crazy woke and extreme left are doesn’t mean he’s not a Democrat.

I like Bill, he says a few controversial things but he is way more center than the average democrat and he calls democrats out all the time. I refuse to watch the news and I don’t watch literally any of the people that everyone complains about here. Candace, Tucker, the view, any of the late night talk shows as they call them. But I will occasionally watch Bill. He at least listens to alternate points of view.
I have Democrat friends and family that you cannot discuss politics with or it ends in hurt feelings:
I could go to dinner with Bill, have a civil discussion. Agree on some things, disagree on others. And walk away with a mutual respect.

Now he claims he'd consider voting for Vance or Rubio. I'm skeptical but stranger things have happened.

He's been a marxist cum stain for 35+ years. He's not going to suddenly have or find some common sense.

I don't like Maher regardless of his opinions. His style defines the word 'Smarmy'.
Posted on 6/28/26 at 11:30 am to Slippy
He's not conservative and will never be far Lefty enough for the Marxists.

I will give Bill Maher credit for one thing and one thing only, he has the balls to admit when he was wrong. He's done a lot of that over the last three years or so. He's still a left wing nutjob, but he's not as indoctrinated as I once believed.

There is no chance of that happening.

I used to be that way, but they pushed too far. Since then, I have separated the wheat from the chaff. I do not miss them, either.

I like Bill but I get annoyed when he knows he is fighting something that he is clearly clueless about

Not really. He was a moderate democrat for the first 2 decade of my life.

He says shite to solicit right wing folks into thinking he’s one of us. It’s not true. He’s a leftist. Always will be when chips are down.

Yeah sure, that may be true but he still votes for them.

Maher is another one that is unhappy with the monster he had a hand in creating.
