that could and should be used to help students reduce their student loan debt. Isn't it amazing and infuriating the Americans who live in a fiscally responsible manner are always the ones tapped to pay for the reckless financial decisions of others?
College and university endowments posted sky-high returns in fiscal year 2021, with endowments of all sizes growing by at least 20 percent, according to a new study. The average college endowment value increased by 35 percent, to $1.1 billion, and the median endowment size swelled to $200 million.
The study—conducted annually by the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America—surveyed 271 public colleges and universities and their affiliated foundations, as well as 442 private institutions and seven noncollegiate nonprofits. Combined, these institutions boasted $821 billion in assets during fiscal year 2021, which began on July 1, 2020, and ended on June 30, 2021.

If students want to reduce their college debt it's really simple...................pay your f-ing bills. I don't claim you on my taxes.

Just like the Church.
Billions and billions in unused assets... but keep on begging for more revenue.

This would have been far more palatable if Endowments started getting taxed.

I will say most churches pay a lot in sales, property and payroll taxes. Very few churches are stacking up investment accounts that are untaxed.

Someone made a similar thread yesterday and some goof chimed in that he was eagerly anticipating the replies here from "a bunch of folks who didn't understand college endowments" or something like that.
He didn't take my bait to try to get him to clarify whatever the hell he possibly meant by that. I remain curious.

So, just take the money from them?
I disagree with the bailout, but taking money that belongs to another is wrong also.

I think the point is that the institutions that helped create the problem have the assets to assist in fixing the problem. Should their funds be taken by force? No. But from an ethics standpoint it would be nice if they chipped in.

So, basically, ALL TAXES?
