There is zero evidence and many firm denials that trump will seek to fire mueller

Why are we freaking out over an off hand comment from some low key dem pol about a "rumor"?

Trump's lawyers, the press sec, and basically every reporter closely connected to WH is strongly denying any effort fire him

Probably just a distraction from the tax vote taking place this coming week.

I don't see where firing him is helpful.

The best plan may be to keep giving Mueller plenty of rope to hang himself with.

It doesn't really matter. Trump is going to die in jail either way.

Like I said, Trial Balloon.

He doesn't want to do it right now, he wants to know if it's considered acceptable, put the idea in play. If this idea is relatively acceptable then a lesser action against the special counsel and team, E.G. slowing them down, will be much more acceptable - this is known as the foot in the door technique in social psychology. Trump uses it a lot.

I’m guessing Mueller is wrapping up his case on Dec 22 and will not have much to show for it. So, it gets leaked by the left that trump is shutting down the investigation so those in the left not happy with the results will say “mueller was getting close to the “bombshell” but Trump shut him down”

Ultimately no one on the left is going to be happy when mueller cannot bring down trump, so they will never believe that trump didn’t interfere.

Why are these things allowed to go on open ended?

Mueller should have to justify the continuation of his investigation every 30/60 days or something. Once he can no longer produce sufficient evidence worth chasing, it dissolves.

Yep.

They know the investigation is winding down and Trump comes out smelling like roses.

Plan C is to make it look like Trump shut down the investigation, gives them reason to scream at the sky for another 6 months and demand another investigation.

They will never accept reality.

That is EXACTLY how it should work. Mueller isn't the one who decides when his investigation is over. Rosenstein is.

When I was with CID , I met with my investigators weekly and kept up with their investigations. Some investigations were weeded out each week, while new ones were started.

Mueller needs to be placed on task like a 3 year old. Right now he is "looking for new leads" instead of investigating what he was hired to investigate. This is the first special council in US History to be placed to look for a crime instead of investigate a crime that was known to be committed. In layman's terms, it is nothing but a witch hunt.

Because the progressives know there is nothing there to find. They have been working with the MSM to try and get Trump to fire Mueller, on the belief that Trump is an irrational buffoon that can be baited by the media.

That is the common mistake all of the Trump opposition have made from day one, they start every attack from the position that Trump is not smart, and it bites them in the arse every single time.

this ^^^^^

this should be the new rules set forth governing any future SC investigations. no more follow the yellow brick road. if something else is discovered in the first investigation the start a new investigation for it or let justice dept investigate that stuff.
