There a song more relevant than what's happening in today's society w/ regard to our kids?

Another Brick In The Wall

IB4 - this is not for the music board. It's about schools, society, and authoritism.

Daddy's flown across the ocean
Leaving just a memory
Snapshot in the family album
Daddy what else did you leave for me?
Daddy, what'd'ja leave behind for me?!?
All in all it was just a brick in the wall.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.

"You! Yes, you! Stand still laddy!"

When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers who would
Hurt the children any way they could

By pouring their derision
Upon anything we did
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

But out in the middle of nowhere
When they got home at night, their fat and
Psycopathic wives would thrash them
Within inches of their lives

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone

Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!

All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave us kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

[8:20] "Wrong, Do it again!"
"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding. How can you
have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"
"You! Yes, you behind the bikesheds, stand still laddy!"

{9:00} [Sound of many TV's coming on, all on different channels]
"The Bulls are already out there"
Pink: "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh!"
"This Roman Meal bakery thought you'd like to know."

I don't need no arms around me
And I dont need no drugs to calm me.
I have seen the writing on the wall.
Don't think I need anything at all.
No! Don't think I'll need anything at all.
All in all it was all just bricks in the wall.
All in all you were all just bricks in the wall.

[10:50] Goodbye, cruel world
I'm leaving you today
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye

Goodbye, all you people
There's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind
Goodbye

It's quite ironic considering the band had leftist intentions and was designed to be anti-establishment and against authoritarianism.

Obsessing about the politics in music would leave you with a pretty shitty music collection. Just enjoy it for what it is.

Leftism IS authoritarianism. You can't have leftism without authoritarianism. They are one in the same. Leftism is total government control. Always has been.

I think you're conflating socially left with someone who wants to be governed by leftism.

The left's greatest weapon over the past 3 decades has been their dominance over popular culture. Without that there's no draw. Even today people will vote for Leftism out of desire to appease cultural leftism, which is just mainstream culture. They're more interested in trannies and SUVs than jobs and broken homes or communities.

Couldn’t disagree more.
Music is a powerful art form to battle politics. CCR comes to mind.

Actually, the band was pretty much apolitical. Roger Waters was the leftist of the group who tried to make a political statement. The rest of the band pretty much hated the albums The Wall and The Final Cut.

Waters pretty much grabbed control and pushed his agenda through with those two albums which led to the break up of the band for a period of time, and it's exclusion of Waters when Gilmour and Mason were joined by Wright to continue as Pink Floyd.

Waters, by the way, is still a self-righteous c***.

I was thinking Silent Running was apropos.

quote:

Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
There's a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me running (can you hear me calling you?)
(Can you hear me) hear me calling you?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running babe?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running?
Calling you, calling you
