This is the second DA who took the case after the first recused himself. This DA also had a son who worked in the same office as McMichael, which led to his subsequent recusal. Furthermore, why didn't the DA explain that there was actual video evidence of a crime in the internal memo he sent to the Glynn County police on April 2nd? I'm very skeptical of using the Barnhill DA as a source. I'm also very skeptical of the claim that Arbery attacked McMichael after watching the video, a claim the DA made in the memo.

Me too. I wonder where all of his burgled items from an empty house were. Perhaps that was why he had cargo shorts? I mean, either way, he deserved to be murdered. Of that we're clear. In case you needed any more proof of that - did you know that he lived in the next neighborhood over? (i.e. this wasn't even his neighborhood.)

Great questions and observations.

The perps in this case aren't even LE...and STILL many on this board can't bring themselves just to outright condemn the actions of these idiots.

Here's another one - the dipshit dad is still using a revolver.

Here’s more interesting news.

There’s been no string of break-ins in the area.

The person who has the home under construction said his camera did capture a person matching Arbery. When asked if Arbery was committing a crime, he said “trespassing.” And declined to release the footage.

The plot thickens, the only break-in reported to the police in the area was a 9mm being stolen from a truck parked outside .....

the McMichael’s home.

Sounds like Ahmaud is the one who should have been initiating the citizen's arrest. The crime? Failing not to be complete redneck dumbasses at all times.

I think literally every adult I know has "trespassed" on construction homesites. In some areas, it's damned near Karen's full time job.

Yeah. I reread that about five times. Not sure why they included it.

It absolutely is. That coupled with the 911 call and rest of evidence, they will certainly be charged and should be.

Possibly murder 1 but definitely murder 2.

Of course one of the assholes was a former cop.

In Georgia, it doesn't even meet the standard of trespassing. It barely meets the standard of loitering and Prowling. In my opinion, loitering and prowling is a step below littering (littering has externalities).

This was a effed up situation.
Ultimately, it is on the shoulders of the father/son. They will get their day in court, and probably days behind bars afterwards.

What’s the time frame for Ahmaud’s criminal record to be mentioned? If there is one, would it already be out there?

The 1st DA mentioned it in that NYT article: shoplifting several years ago and brought a gun to a high school basketball game 7 years ago. He also mumbled something about "mental health".

Shoplifting. Probation violation.
Indicted on charge for handgun at hs basketball game.

Nothing to allow 2 people to hunt down a confrontation.

Based on what I've seen I tend to agree; too bad the video wasn't better. They may get off if the prosecutor overreaches, but this will be a very, very expensive lesson for them. If they're not convicted I hope they're broke after this.

I don't wish them any ill will. I hope they get their day in court. Whatever justice comes from that... I can live with it.
