Science, yo

quote:

A leftover from Tuesday's briefing, but it's worth showcasing for a number of reasons. In the context of praising America's heroic frontline healthcare workers, Dr. Deborah Birx congratulated them over their efforts helping to ensure that the United States' Coronavirus mortality rate is among the lowest in the world.

Yeah but Trump is handling the worst out of any country

And Democrat governors with the highest death per capita states are handling it the best.

If by causing more pain and death than the virus then you are correct.

If you take out the NYC area (where De Blasio completely screwed up and has not faced much backlash), our mortality rate is almost 3-4 times lower than Europe’s.

Trump blew it.
Nationalized healthcare is better.

And that before antibody testing really locks down the true number.. Based off of NYCs 14%, we can guess around 30-40m american's have likely been exposed and fought it off.

And that is with a grossly underestimated denominator used in the calculations and every mortality during the period being attributed to Covid. I’m sure all the recent tornado deaths have been coded Covid

You can't use NY's numbers to "guess" how many have been exposed across the country....

15% was the number out of Europe for Antibody testing and out of California Stanford it was 50-85 times as many as reported.

I took 10m off of NYC's % for the US. That is def reasonable.

ETA: In San Fran, they tested homeless centers and 60% came back positive.

All of that is pointing towards the number infected being much, much, much larger than currently known.

This is what I've been trying to tell people around me but they all want to flip the frick out and never leave their homes. NY is a mess and inflates those numbers but many people just look at the total numbers - not against other countries - and act like we're all going to die from the virus.
