WE were attacked? Where exactly were "we"? In the confines of our own country? What, exactly, is our Department of Defense supposed to be defending? Other people? And we're borrowing money to pay for that?
My two questions are: "What in the frick are we doing over there?" and, "What the frick do we expect to happen we we put our soldiers in the middle of an Islamic war?"
But then, this is all just wag the dog shite to keep people's eyes off of the impeachment - a la Bill Clinton

I don’t know if you’re aware of this, but we have embassies all over the world.

But I've been told repeatedly on this board that international courts don't mean anything and we can essentially do whatever we want because no one can stop us or enforce their laws on us.
If Germany would have won ww2 who the frick would've done the enforcing?
You need to look up Dresden and maybe you'll realize how military significance comes in to play.

After we had attacked them.
The funny thing is that no wants to ask why we are being attacked in the first place. Maybe if we weren't occupying another country, terrorizing the people with the threat of immediate death from the air, we wouldn't be getting attacked.

Nobody is for torturing anyone. My point is that nobody else abides by the rules.
ROEs discerning combatant and non-combatant are also something these countries take advantage of.

Why should we care about their culture? They sure don't care about ours

Secretary of Defense Mark Esper on Monday contradicted President Donald Trump by asserting the US would not target Iranian cultural sites amid rising tensions after a US strike killed Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani.
"We will follow the laws of armed conflict," Esper told CNN Monday.
When pressed if that meant not targeting Iranian cultural sites, Esper replied, "That's the laws of armed conflict."
