This is why the FBI should in no way act independently from the Executive because it only allows it to be weaponized by political opposition.

Only problem with this was that the Obama Admin allowed the FBI to be weaponized if not outright doing that themselves.
Are we really supposed to believe that the FBI spied on the opposition party's presidential campaign without the White House knowing and getting a green light from them?

I see what you’re saying but if the FBI is allowed to act independently then accountability is dissipated to where it’s diluted. Putting in the Executive allows the accountability to be consolidated. Your options if there is abuse are:
Vote him/her out when they are up for re-election.
Impeachment.

Why aren't there 50 US Marshals rounding up conspirators as we speak?

Do you even understand what they did? You either don’t know what happened or you’re blinded by MSM stupid.
Or both.
Or both.

FWIW, I fully believe and agree with you that the DOJ and FBI have to answer to POTUS but this whole episode is why elections matter and have consequences.
This is what was always going to happen when we elected a freshman senator that cut his political teeth in the most corrupt city in the country and was groomed by Ted Kennedy who literally got away with murder.
Candidates matter and that's why we have to make sure they're trustworthy and support an apolitical law enforcement apparatus.
With that said, this whole episode also reminds us why there needs to be more close, direct and personal supervision from POTUS because these seditious actors tried to hide behind the canard of separation between the WH and DOJ.

It may take a lot more than 50.

Perhaps, but why do you tinfoil? I dont.

quote:It was a coup d'etat. No question about it. It will be very interesting to see how the public reacts to this. I have to say, after the ACA, I disliked Obama as much as any US politician in my lifetime. If a conservative group had attempted a coup d'etat against obama, I would have supported rounding every one of them up and jailing them for life.
If that happened somewhere else in Africa, Asia, etc, media would be declaring it a coup attempt.
