I'm curious also, and I'm not saying fatherlessness isn't the number one cause of gun violence. It's just that in conversation, citing Tigerdroppings doesn't always go over so well.
ETA
Just saw the other links. Thanks.

Interesting.

The OP is not a "shoot from the hip" poster. It's very likely he has a direct source.
There are a litany of post-DPMoynihan treatise single-parent (aka fatherless H/H) outcome studies hitting around the subject. None that I've seen is quite as succinct as the OP though.
So excuuuuuuuse me for asking ...

Higher melanin in skin does not cause one to be more violent. I refuse to believe that crime is caused by skin color.
It's cultural, not racial.
They try to make it a racial issue, when it doesn't affect black immigrants or upper class blacks. (they are often apologists for this behavior, though)
It's a lower-class poor black cultural problem.

I have worked with mentally ill teenagers for over two decades. Most have behavior problems but are not dangerous. The kids who pose the greatest risk display narcissism, a desire to seek violent revenge for the mildest slight, a desire for infamy, and lack of empathy. When these factors converge, a violent act is very likely to take place.
