“only 2% of the ASPCA budget is given as grants to community pet shelters, using a figure from a new CEW report that cites the ASPCA’s most recent tax filings as the source of its numbers.
At the same time, according to CEW, the ASPCA in 2021 had $390 million in revenue and $575 million in assets, including $310 million in investments and $105 million in savings.
Perhaps most striking, the animal welfare group has about $11 million in offshore accounts in the Caribbean, while tax filings show ASPCA CEO Matt Berkshadker rakes in nearly $1 million a year and 259 of his employees make six figures.”
“The organization has really radicalized in recent years, taking positions that are anti-agriculture and anti-farmer,” said Hubbard. “They’re pushing wacky and extreme policies in the Farm Bill.”

Seems like a hit piece, but I’m interested in where the money goes.

Most cities have public and private shelters. I highly recommend going private. Those ladies take good care of those dogs. Public employees want to do as little work as possible.

Cut their funding completely .
Create a new and normal group or agency with normal fricking people running it. Actually use the money for it's intended use.

I agree but the government screws things up much worse and politicians steal way more and waste even more. I think the posters who say support local and direct are right.

I don't give them money, but at least once a week, I pick up a 50 pound bags of dog food an carry it to our local shelter. It's not much but it helps. Sometimes I'll carry them cat food as well.
