Communications broke down somewhere between the government/military and the airport, imo.

No way in hell did they mean to shoot down that plane.

I believe the airport should've had enough common sense though.. to not send a plane up just a few hours after the country you're in launched missiles into another country. That flight should've been delayed until the next day.

It definitely doesn't excuse the Iranian military. I hate the Iran authoritarian government.. but, in this situation, I kind of feel bad for those soldiers. They are tainted now, in the eyes of the world...just because a handful of assholes got anxious and shot down that plane.

The plane had just taken off from their own airport and was gaining altitude. The level of incompetence in order to shoot it down would have to be astronomical.

Its all bullshite. If we hit Iran it will be with missiles first not aircraft and definitely not aircraft a couple hundred feet up. The Iranians are just that stupid militarily

Canadians of Persian descent. One of them knew too much and/or was a Canadian spy. Interesting take.

Considering there were other departures prior to the shootdown, following the same SID, it's a plausible thought.

Civilian airliners were still flying because Iran probably confirmed prior to the event that we weren’t going to do anything when they lobbed a few missiles at the bases in Iraq. The Iranian higher-ups probably didn’t transmit this beyond the upper-level brass and airlines for morale reasons. So Captain/Lieutenant/Sergeant/Private Ahmed with an itchy trigger finger was still on high alert and totally screwed up.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but this makes the most sense you me.

Only Ukrainians on board where the crew

I don't think so, I think there were 11 Ukrainians but only 9 were crew. I may be be off a couple but I think that's what I read from the list of passengers.

I realize it's Iran and all. But sheesh. Grounding civilian air traffic when your country is on alert for incoming attacks seems like a decision your average 10 year old could make
But they knew nothing was incoming. They knew the US wasn't retaliating, and even if they did they knew no one was lobbing missiles into Tehran.

The fact they they knew there was ZERO threat makes the shoot down even more weird.

Between the time that Iran launched missiles into Iraq and the plane was shot down (three hours) six other planes left that same airport unscathed.

It wasn't an accidental takedown. It was an assassination.

However, my conclusion, given all the available data, is the only logical one. Yours is based on some hair-tingling or some need to prove you know something all of us are too dumb to know. In other words... you are full of shite.

See my last post about how six planes took off between the missile attack in Iraq and the shoot down of this plane.

Full of shite? Nah, just a little more perceptive is all.
