My point is that they were something else before that regardless of whether they were conquered “in the name of ____” or as was much more likely the case just because some leader had the strength and ambition to take it for themselves.
This is a bit convoluted. The Islamic invasion was sudden and religiously motivated.

It’s just natural law with gods and pretexts to justify the strong taking from the weak.
I don't think the Islamics feel the same way as the romans did when they were conquering.

The Romans conquered Britain when it was still a death penalty to be a Christian
No shite. But they did conquer it, and they did bring Christianity eventually as a result of that conquest.

I mean this is factually wrong. It's off by 400 years.
I wasn’t off by 400 years; your assumption was off by 400 years.

... as a result?
Christianity made it to Britain while still illegal.

Lets go to the replay
quote:
I think what he is saying is that Christianity was also mostly spread by the sword. There was no Christianity in Britain until the Romans conquered Britain and then became Christian.
The Christians usually did not resort to forcing individuals to convert at the point of the sword, but the area was Christianized due to invasions.
Romans Invaded initially in 55 BC They conquered Britain in 43AD.
quote:
The earliest confirmed written evidence for Christianity in Britain is a statement by Tertullian, c. 200 AD, in which he described "all the limits of the Spains, and the diverse nations of the Gauls, and the haunts of the Britons, inaccessible to the Romans, but subjugated to Christ".
While still illegal, and first mention in places the Romans never conquered.
So places never invaded were converted... Giving lie to your claim..

but the area was Christianized due to invasions.
A true statement would be that after the Roman invasion, an illegal non Roman religion made converts in Britain.
You can make your own theories, but not your own facts.

They live to die.
There's not much you can do with that...

I stand corrected.
I thought the point you were making is that the Romans weren’t Christian when they conquered Britain. I realized that.

Who were made Roman?
Franks.
Gauls.
Some Germanic tribes to the Rhine.
Greece.
Spain.
North Africa.
Egypt.
Parts of Syria, Iran and Mesopotamia.
The Jews were suppressed through what three revolutions to the point that they were basically ethnically cleansed before they fully submitted, but in the end Roman rule and values were imposed prior to the Roman conversion to Christianity.
