And you don't think that's a tad bit ridiculous?

That they'd rather have another 4 years of this shite because they didn't get their way?

...even though Desantis is basically a Latin Trump. It's not like we're trotting out another Mitt Romney out there...

Read my edit. They won't support him in a primary so it's an irrelevant point. Trump still has a strong grip on the GOP.

I would gladly vote for Desantis in 2028 if he presents himself as the best option. Against Trump, though? It's not realistic.

But you still stand that they would get so asshurt that they would turn Desantis into a political enemy for the 2028 election?

Why would Desantis risk alienating the Trump coalition in 2024, when he can inherit them in 2028.

You guys are thinking with your hopes & feels

If he were to run in 2024 and lose, it's going to make it harder to win in a crowded GOP field in 2028. He's a young guy. Still in his early 40s. He's more valuable being left on the sidelines than tossing his hat in the ring in 2024 with a slimmer chance. There are already several other people going to run in 2024 that will siphon off the "anti-Trump" vote.

If he holds out until 2028 he can be a fresh first time candidate instead of being known as the loser.

It makes no sense politically

Not only will Desantis not run against Trump, he will campaign for him.

Agree 100%. It's his nomination in 2028 if he holds off. He's got maybe a 10-15% chance of winning it in 2024. He's too smart to damage himself for the future.

And something could happen between now and 2028 that could cause him to lose his "mystique". I don't blame him for running if he chooses. 4 years is an eternity in politics.

The fact that you think support for Desantis is "anti-Trump" is pretty telling. I'll repeat what I said earlier.....Desantis is basically Latin Trump.

If Desantis were to win the nomination, his turnout would be just as good as Trumps. Unless the cultist-faction of Trumps base decides proving a point is more important than the country.

What cheating? Dominion voting machine issues -FAKE!
Bamboo ballots from China - FAKE! Italian lasers from space - FAKE! Suitcases of ballots - FAKE! All I need is 11,780 votes! Wake up!!! The orange haired buffoon and his cronies tried to steal the election. Trump lost! More people voted for Biden. Trump, in two elections, has lost the popular vote both times!!! Send him your money (the non existent Election Defense Fund) which has received $250,000,000 in contributions. The con man is using the money for his golf courses and paid his daughter-in-law $60,000 for a 2 minute speech on January 6th. You sycophants deserve what you get!!!

You keep saying this but won't elaborate how he would damage himself.

Why do you think DeSantis should wait when his stock is riding at an all time high?

Also, Politics are cyclical and I would bet that a Trump win in 2024 will create a huge momentum swing for the Dems in 2028 and that gives them plenty of time to develop their bench and try and find another Obama or Bill Clinton. DeSantis would be a slam dunk to win the Presidency if he is the nominee. His momentum would just as likely by gone by 2028 and he would face a tougher environment after another four years of Trump and a stronger Democrat candidate.

Trump carries too much baggage and it too toxic to a large portion of American public....

Trump can do more as a private citizen campaigning year-around for different candidates than he could do as President. He's essentially untouchable as a private citizen whereas DC can through up endless amounts of roadblocks with him as an Elected official.

He'll continue having a large platform as the Governor in the most popular state in the country. He'll also earn a much valued Trump endorsement by sitting out in 2024. Look, the guy is in his early 40's. He's still very early in his political career.

Did Trump not endorse Cruz after 2016?
