The Oval Office meeting today was a good strategy

Showed that Nancy and Chuck are political robots spewing regurgitated talking points and that Trump is not afraid to shut down the government for the sake of national security or quarrel with government leaders on live television when it comes to things he’s passionate about. It showed a lot of transparency and made Chuck and Nancy look weak. I’m sure CNN and MSNBC will spin it, but this seemed like a PR win for Trump.

He certainly cast his lot today that the wall is a national security issue and he’s willing to take the heat of a shutdown to get it done.
Will be fascinating to see how it plays out from here

Totally agree. Chuck and Nancy know that a shutdown for border security is aTrump winning strategy and they are in a weak position.

I don’t know if it was all that effective. If you were for the walk before the meeting, you are still for the wall.
If you were against the wall before the meeting, you are still against the wall.

But now he’s going to shut the government down over it.

Protecting the frontiers has been job one of governments for millennia, if the national government can't do that job then there isn't any sense in even having a government.
Shut it down.
Shut it down.

Chuck Schumer is such an attention whore, he kept looking at the cameras while talking to the President, like he didn't know which one to face.

Yes I thought he was going to fire Pence but we will have to watch next weeks show. Political Apprentice is the best

I enjoyed his shunning of Nancy’s call for an empty, symbolic vote on the House floor. To hell with legislative theater, we’ll vote on bills we can pass. Schumer, tongue tied at this point, responded that a CR is bipartisan and passable, as if anyone really wants another CR.

VP Pence should have step in add more AMMO for Trump. He sat there and remained silent.

If going on record and taking the blame for a government shutdown over the wall funding was Trump’s objective for the meeting... then mission accomplished.

They already are. They are saying he went to his reality TV roots and it backfired and he got beat at his own game.

Not sure how many people will actually watch the video as opposed to hearing CNN's disingenuous spin on it, but that was a disaster for the two idiots known as Chuck & Nancy. For one thing, they (especially Nanito) looked extremely uncomfortable expressing their views in public. Secondly, they were focused on attacking Trump while Trump appeared to be interested in talking specifics. The funniest moment, albeit slightly subtle, came when Trump said he understood why Nancy wouldn't want to say too much publicly. That was Trump's way of taking a bit of a jab at her regarding the upcoming vote for SOTH. Nancy bristled at that, but who knows if she even got the point?
The Dems have very weak leadership.

Kelly Anne or Stephen Miller will end up with it and Trump will act like they were the first choices all along

Mike Pence look like he wanted no part of that crossfire.

Today marked the first day of trumps relection campaign, and I think it was a great first move. Owning shutting down the government because you want to protect America is going to play great.

Deport all liberals and illegal aliens

Move the Capitol to Trump National Golf Course and let our Orange Glorius savage president rebuild it from the ground up!

I guess we will see, but I wouldn’t assume this to be true. No one has ever shut the government down and not been punished for it.
