It was the 2nd most powerful active ship in the Russian Navy.

The most powerful is the Kirov class Peter the Great. Russia has 2 Kirov class ships, the other is undergoing a refit and is expected to reenter service in 2023.

Russia had 3 Slava class boats (now 2) one of the two remaining boats is in active service in the Northern Fleet while the other is assigned to the Pacific fleet but is currently not combat ready.

Thanks for this. I'd add that Turkey has closed the straits to any Russian warships entering the Black Sea so Russia's stuck with what it's got left there.

A month after you said "Ukraine was surrendering", Russia retreats from the Kyiv area & then loses the most important ship in their Black Sea fleet

This comeback is literally a month old. Try something new for a change yawn. They didn’t lose a ship, they can repair it lmao. If this ship actually sunk, CNN and it’s commander general Don Lemon would have the biggest boner that could be seen from space.

Taking Kiev wouldn’t have won the war and cost millions of resources to hold, idk why y’all still happy about this? Meanwhile, Mariupol has went bye bye.

This sounds as copium as the ghost of Kiev shvt.

Taking Kiev would certainly have helped to win the war. It cost millions if resources to attack and that sttack failed. You can’t say that’s a good thing unless you are just being ridiculous.

Mariupol was sitting there prewar practically surrounded by Russians. How it has hung on this long is really surprising.
In the end it might become the Ukrainian Alamo.

The next 30 days will be critical.

so it seems the ship being sunk was more BS propaganda? (according to the Pentagon)

quote:

Pentagon press secretary John Kirby told CNN that “there was an explosion” on the Russian cruiser Moskva, but added the United States cannot assess at this point if the ship was hit by a missile.

Russia said its warship "remains afloat" after a fire detonated ammunition on board, while Ukrainian officials said the Moskva was hit by Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missiles and has sunk.

“We’re not quite exactly sure what happened here. We do assess that there was an explosion — at least one explosion on this cruiser — a fairly major one at that, that has caused extensive damage to the ship,” Kirby said.
Kirby said the damaged Russian warship is afloat and "making her own way across the Black Sea."

“We assess that the ship is able to make its own way, and it is doing that; it's heading more towards now we think the east. We think it's probably going to be putting in at Sevastopol for repairs, but we don’t know what exactly caused that,” Kirby added.

Kirby said the ship had been operating with a few other Russian vessels about 60 miles (about 96 kilometers) south of Odesa.

Russia destroyed every military asset in that city and caused mass evacuations from it. Taking and holding Kiev would’ve caused massive casualties and drain a ton of resources and the Ukrainians would’ve just moved their capitol to Lviv like every other country does when they lose their capital.

This is literally common sense, idk how this is so hard for y’all to comprehend with? WW2 France is a anomaly, quit thinking all you have to do is take the capital city of a country to win a war.

Russia's claiming it was evacuated and is being towed. I guess we'll eventually see photos or we won't.

ETA: DoD briefing today says "fire" extensive, but ship is afloat & heading east. They didn't confirm a weapons strike, but say Russian ships in the area have backed away from the coast to 80 km.

Yes. It appears that it is able to float.
I never bought in to the propaganda.

Blatantly false.

Attacking Kiev caused massive casualties and the loss of major resources.

It’s common sense to see that Russia’s initial plan did not work, and they got bloodied up real bad by attacking Kiev as they did. So bad that they had to pull back.

I completely understand that the war is far from over, but l D o believe the Ukraine is doing a lot better than I had expected. You may have predicted the Ukraine would bloody up the Russians as they have but I did not.

The only people talking about occupation is the west. It seems pretty apparent that what they stated in the beginning is what they are doing. Destroy the military infrastructure with air strikes, destroy Azov, and make Ukraine neutral after taking the heavily pro Russian east and some southern parts. Anything else is just bull shite spreading by the west as justification to do whatever the hell they want. They have made no attempt whatsoever to de-escalate. There is obviously a much bigger agenda going on here for the west

You're posting laughable, almost parody level 'hot takes' right now. I'm sorry, but I can't be kind about this.

Mariupol is 60km from the Russian border, and it took Russia 1.5 months to take the city from ~1k soldiers. The outskirts of Kharkiv is 26km from the Russian border and Russia has literally stopped trying to take it. Russia still doesn't have air superiority, they still haven't taken any major objectives and they're taking visibly confirmed losses daily.

Oh, and they just lost a second naval vessel, either through incompetence or getting hit by a Ukrainian made/manufactured anti-ship missile.

You can’t be this stupid.

How exactly is that to be accomplished without occupation? Ukraine is just gonna turn over its sovereignty and become ‘neutral’ after being invaded? In this fantasyland you’re living in, the second Russia troops leave Ukraine, they’ll be rearming (if not before).

Neutrality without an occupying force is just words… it has to be enforced (similar to the logic of a no-fly zone).

Bingo

After all these setbacks Russia bots have redefined the mission.
There is no doubt they set out to take out the Ukrainian government, put their people in place and thus control Ukraine.
It’s all a word game right now as they try and explain their setbacks.

Oh they want the Ukrainian leadership gone. Go back and listen to what Putin said. It’s far closer to what’s happening than anything the west has projected. The US cannot stop lying about everything. Everything we export is poison. Our country has been taken over by globalists

That may be true, but it still doesn’t give Russia an excuse to invade the Ukraine, kill thousands and drive millions from their homes.
The bad guy here is Russia, not the US, not NATO, abd not the Nazis.
