It got worse after COVID but we are looking to buy a condo there now for when we go. No one is interested in solving the homeless issue though, but the aesthetics are way better since they tore down the viaduct.

Well the fundamental problem is that even in a city that started to gentrify and have some nice neighborhoods for single adults or childless adults those neighborhoods are still in the same school district quite often with ghettos that are only a mile or two away. It's like the good neighborhoods are pockets. And I've said it before on this board. At least 80% of whether or not a school is good is about who is attending the school.
