They used this dude very carelessly and pretty much ruined him. And that's not to excuse his repugnant behavior, but it does perhaps provide a little insight. His own dad brushed aside his son's wellbeing in the name of personal gain. It's like sending your kid who you know to be a heroin addict to the golden triangle to do your bidding, with no constraints or concerns. Hell, that may have even literally happened as well.

It makes me wonder what kind of pedigree Beau’s widow had.
