The mind-boggling talking point that college debt cancellation will help the economy

Wtf?
Under such logic, we can enjoy a nice economic boom by cancelling all car payments, credit card debt, and mortgages.
This is an example of the broken window fallacy in economics. “What is seen and what is not seen”
What is seen is that graduates got a huge increase in discretionary income
What is unseen but still there is that an equal amount of income is being confiscated to finance it.
Also, what exactly do these people think happens to the loans they pay back? That money isn’t burned or buried. It is going back into economy already.

my favorite part is how the coastal urbanites cheer this plan while also bitching about high rents
flood about a trillion dollars into those markets and see the rents explode
they just ignore this or any effects it would have on investments b/c they assume only rich people have them

The same logic that says increasing minimum wage will help the economy
Why stop at $15 then. Why not make the minimum wage $50. Or $100. Why stop at $100.

Free money with no lending limits or expectation of payback will surely lower the cost of college, right?

I was on reddit arguing with users in the Seattle sub about the concept of a "living wage"
I said that a "living wage" sounds nice in theory but I was probing them about it.
What exactly defines a living wage? Is it universal for the entire country? Or is it set on where you live? Is the living wage the same for someone living in Peoria, IL as it is in San Francisco or Seattle? Does the living wage ensure your right to live in an expensive city?
What does the living wage cover? Does it entitle you to live in your own apartment? Or is it set on having a roommate? If it entitles you to be able to live in your own apartment, how many bedrooms? 1? 2? Does the living wage scale for how many are living under your roof?
How much groceries and food does a living wage entitle you to? Groceries from bargain bin grocery stores? Or nicer stores like Whole Foods? Does it entitle you to organic food and other higher end/healthy food? Restaurant food?
Does it entitle you to clothing? High quality clothing or low quality garbage from the likes of Wal Mart?
Does it entitle you to Heat? Air conditioning? Electricity? Utilities? Transportation? Your own car? Gas in your car? Public transportation? Uber rides?
What about luxuries and non essentials? Does the living wage have any wiggle room for that? Because I guarantee you some politician will say every American has a right to a vacation, or entertainment, or whatever.
I asked all these questions and of course got no responses. They just like to shout out vague ideas like "living wage" but disappear when asked to explain the details. That explains democrats perfectly. They love to spout their ideas in general, but only on the surface, please do not attempt to go into detail. They sound great on the surface, but bad when you dive deeper. Hence why "MEDICARE FOR ALL" polls well until you start asking deeper questions.

It goes into the pockets of corporate fat cats and rich bankers.

This forgiveness program would be huge for me and my family. Freeing up over $1500/month that I could use to buy a bigger house or generally put into the economy.
But I still won't vote for hollow Democrat candidates that try to bankrupt our country just to buy a vote. How the hell do they expect to pay for all of this shite they keep promising? You can only "tax the rich" so much.
