Which ones? The world is full of potential immigrants.
If they can come here, work without needing government support, understand freedom of religion and separation of church/state, they understand we drink/use drugs/have loose "morals" and that women have virtually the same rights as men, realize they aren't entitled to anything then they should be welcome.
If not, we don't need them.

These concepts are not exclusive. Personal values vs cultural values.
I have my own personal opinions about what makes something regressive, i.e. a judgement. My personal opinions about what makes something regressive likely do not conform to our cultural values. Furthermore, I can also question who gets to determine those cultural values and how are they applied.

I suspect his embracement of Islam is in proportion to his dislike for the dominant religion.
Generally, the love of Islam by the left is really more of a hatred for Christianity.

The problem I have with this statement is the absolute trust in the system, that said system will hold those people who hold contradicting extreme viewpoints accountable for their actions.
From what I'm seeing from progressive America is that they want to allow anyone and everyone to do whatever they want, with their culture being the determining factor of legitimacy and legality as opposed to the laws of the United States holding that distinction.
